The G30 design from Canon is a huge upgrade from the previous VIXIA models from Canon, and this design gives a near perfect video quality for a much lower price. The G30 is more comfortable to use and has a curvier grip along with a plush strap which allows it to remain on the hand of the user without causing discomfort. It is also much easier to operate and instead of shuffling through the menu to change a function, the camera has a physical switch which can change any function quickly.
The G30 also has a four-way joystick affixed near the record button which allows the user to move through the menu system without having to look through the EVF of the camera. The camera also has five custom buttons which are programmable and a custom dial towards the front which controls default exposure. The EVF was designed to tilt up and can be activated by pulling it away from the body of the camera and then it can click up to a forty-five-degree angle.
-HD video lens with 8-blade circular aperture and a manual focus ring which delivers exceptional photo quality with precise control and smooth background.
-1080/60p mp4 recording and AVCHD progressive for fast and slow motion recording and native 24p recording.
-Megapixel HD CMOS image sensor DIGiC DV4 high-speed image processor for sensitivity and unique imaging performance.
-Two memory card slots for pristine high definition recording which are SDHC /SDXC compatible.
-The dual band built-in Wi-Fi technology which allows users to share images wirelessly or to send them to a PC.
•The G30 has a 20x zoom lens which can cover a wider angle than a lot of cameras.
•The G30 also has a 1080p60 video capture and an LPCM audio to create a clearer picture and better video.
•The G30 has an electronic viewfinder which brightens the image in dim environments, helps the user to preview the photo, shows a live display of how the image will be rendered and aids zooming.
•The G30 is also Wi-Fi enabled to support sharing of videos and pictures.
•Its mic and headphone connectors allow users to experience clearer audios.
•Padded hand strap to make the camera more comfortable to hold.
•Manual focus rings and dual memory card slots to allow for more recording time.
•The wireless remote control also gives it an edge over other designs.
•The G30 is quite expensive and is bulky on the hands.
•It has not internal storage but has two slots for memory cards.
The G30 records its videos in mp4 format or AVCHD at 1080p60 quality. Even though the camera has only a single ½.84inch image sensor, its footage is great and colorful. Details may be crisp when the camera is zoomed to its limits, but it is decent for a camcorder. The Wi-Fi technology is also very impressive and allows remote control from a tablet, phone or a PC and also direct transfer to an Android or iOS. Images and videos can also be directly shared via canon’s image gateway. These features are great even though it may be a bit pricey, but it is worth it due to its remarkable performance.
